Gladys Lorraine Nichols Walker, age 96 of Walland, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was born to parents James and Ellen (McClanahan) Nichols on May 4, 1920. During part of World War II she worked in California as a riveter on B-17 bombers. Later she was employed as an LPN for a number of years at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Marvin Douglas Walker, parents, younger sisters, Shirley, Doris and Betty and infant brother, Billy Ray. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Caughron. Having been raised a Baptist, she transferred her membership to Walland United Methodist Church more than 60 years ago and was very concerned about the upkeep of her church. Following her wishes that only a graveside service be held, family and friends will meet at West Miller's Cove Cemetery on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. for the service with Reverend Peggy Meade officiating. In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by making donations to Walland UMC Maintenance Fund (Walland Methodist Church, 309 E. Millers Cove Road, Walland, TN 37886).
