Gladys Lamar Frye McDaniel, 94 of Maryville, daughter of the late Charles and Lou E Myers Frye, passed away peacefully July 7th, 2022, in Campbellsville Kentucky. Gladys was born in Walland, TN on July 19, 1927. After graduation from Walland High School, Gladys worked several retail jobs in Maryville, but most people remember Gladys when she worked at the White Star Lines bus station. A proud and hardworking, family-oriented woman, Gladys also found time to volunteer with the Special Olympics. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #5154, Maryville, Tennessee and traveled extensively across the United States as Treasure for the Ladies Auxiliary VFW National President, Juanita Crowe Durbino 1993-1994. Gladys was a 50 plus year member of Home Demonstration/Family, Communication Education Program through the University of Tennessee Extension Office. She served as Secretary and Treasure for the Walland Club for the entire 50 years. She had a great talent for sewing and did alterations and repair for family, friends and neighbors as well as being involved in two Civic projects making hundreds of Cancer turbans and thousands of “Boo-boo” animals for the Blount County Health Department. She was raised in the Baptist faith and attended Miller Cove Missionary Baptist Church as a young girl and for the last 20 plus years attended Maryville First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Steve McDaniel and wife Jolene of Campbellsville, KY; grandson, Bryce McDaniel and wife Becky; great grandson, Colin Bryce McDaniel all of Georgetown, KY. She also survived by 2 step granddaughters, Billie Jo Bell and husband Keith of Campbellsville, KY; Lesley Sneed of Versailles, KY; special friends, Pat James, Linda Yardley, Joan and Jim Elliot, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Bryce McDaniel; siblings, Ann, John, Helen, James and Earl; step grandson; Michael Perkins; special friend, Juanita Crowe-Durbino. The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home and funeral services following at 2:00 PM with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. The interment will follow in Millers Cove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ladies Auxiliary Post #5154, Maryville, Tennessee. She will be missed by so many. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
