Gertraud Kapp Simpson (Omi) was born June 18, 1926 and passed September 25th peacefully at the age of 96. Family that survive her are son D. Victor Simpson, son Steven M. Simpson (Mary Jo), daughter Barbara S. Petrucci (Ned) and nephew Christian Waldmann (Edith). Surviving grandchildren are Amy R. Durham (Justin), Nicholas E. Petrucci, Rachel S. Halford (Todd), Nicholas E. Simpson (Jenny), Valerie Z. Landa (Adam), Meghan S. Lowry (Matthew), Michael S. Simpson (Eren), John P. The family is deeply grateful to the leadership and staff of Avalon Hospice for their compassion and dedication to her care.

Family and friends will meet 3:00 PM, Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum with Brian Davis, Hospice Chaplain officiating.

Mrs. Simpson had a passion for her pets, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Blount County Animal Center (blounttn.org/167/animal-Center). She was also a supporter of Blount County SMiles Program (blountcaa.org/donate).
