Gerry “Pinky” Chambers, went home to Jesus on November 16, 2019 at age 86. “Miss
Pinky,” as many knew her, was born to Porter & Novella McDaniel on September 20,
1933 in Big Sandy, TN. She was one of 8 siblings and would speak often of her fond
childhood memories of growing up on a farm. She graduated as salutatorian of her
class from Big Sandy Highschool in 1952, completed business school and radiologic
technician training in Nashville, TN before marrying her husband, Dick Chambers, in
1954. She was married for 47 wonderful years before being widowed in 2001.
Gerry was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved nature,
music, painting, and writing poetry. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering
faith in God, which she shared with those around her. Gerry was a member of RIO
Revolution Church in Maryville and loved her church family dearly as well.
Gerry is preceded in death by husband Dick Chambers, sons Ricky and James Andrew
Chambers, her brothers Benton, Milton, Jack and Buddy McDaniel, and sister Doris
McDaniel Snow.
She is survived by her daughter Geri Williams and husband Scotty Williams, daughter
Wendy Cox and husband Steve Cox, grandchildren Jordan DeLozier and husband Paul
DeLozier, Jesse Williams and wife Whitney Williams, Addison Cox and Savannah Cox,
and great grandchildren Silas and Esli DeLozier, and Esther and Evangeline Williams,
as well as her dear sisters Elaine Greer and Ruth Dennison, and many nieces and
nephews.
The family will receive friends at RIO Revolution Church, 3419 East Lamar Alexander
Pkwy in Maryville, on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM with a
Celebration of Life service immediately following. Graveside service will be held at
Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 3:00 PM.
