Gerald Wayne Simerly

Gerald Wayne Simerly, age 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 26, 2018. He was a born again Christian who dedicated his life to his faith, family, and serving others. He was a self-taught musician who enjoyed playing the bass, electric, and acoustic guitars. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his beautiful granddaughters. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Clint and Stella Simerly, Carter and Cora Belle Mullenax; parents, Rev. Samuel (Gene) and Cora Mae Simerly. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Katrina Simerly; granddaughters, Sadie, and Samantha Simerly; former spouse, Charlotte Simerly; brothers, Gary (Brenda) Simerly, Grady Simerly (Terry Lawson); sisters, Gennia Cochran (Ty), Cornelia Corky (Jimmy) Long. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at Bible Baptist Church with the service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Atchley officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Zions Chapel Cemetery for the interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
