Gerald W. Bailey, born May 5, 1924, died two days before his 85th birthday. He served for 31/2 years with the U. S. Army Air Force, serving in the Philippines, during World War II, and was discharged as Sergeant. He was a Ford salesman for 39 years, a member of St. Marks United Methodist church 62 years, serving as Board Chairman, Sunday School teacher and song leader. His special interest were woodworking, beekeeping and orchidist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Grace Bailey; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Ray McMillan. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Barbara Holt Bailey, two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Clint Abbott, Deloris “D” and Jim Brown; two grandchildren, Deedee Abbott and Tim Smith, Darby and Emily Abbott; four great grandchildren, Abram and Anderson Abbott and Flora and Finn Smith; two nieces, Sally Stovall and Jane Story; special friends, Tom and Brenda Simpson and Ann Lovingood. The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. John Ingram. Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Marks United Methodist Church. Louisville, with Rev. Larry Devault officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Middlesettlements Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Church.
