Gerald (Jerry) Joseph Halseth

July 31, 1929 — February 7, 2018

Gerald Joseph Halseth (Jerry), 88 of Maryville, TN, passed away on February 7, 2018. Jerry was born July 31, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN and grew up there graduating from North High School in 1946. Jerry later served in the Army-Air Force as a radio operator from 1946-1949, recalled again in 1951-1952. He then worked at Honeywell and Lear, but most of his career was at IBM as an Electrical Engineer for 25 years from 1964-1989. He worked on the Apollo Project and was proud to say, He helped to put the first man on the moon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Halseth. He leaves behind his friend and companion, Jeanette Preston; brother, Jack Halseth; four children, Tom Halseth (Maria), Todd Halseth (Linda), Ted Halseth and Terri Jones (Paul); 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, who fondly referred to him as Opa. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, at the TN Veterans Cemetery on Lyons View Pike, Knoxville.
