George Michael ''Mike'' Blackburn

June 8, 1942 — November 1, 2010

George Michael (Mike) Blackburn passed away after a short battle with nasal lymphoma on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lafayette, IN on June 8, 1942. In 1964, he graduated from Purdue University with an Electrical Engineering degree. After completing the ROTC training at Purdue, he entered the US Army Signal Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant stationed at San Pedro, CA. After 35 years of service at ALCOA in Warrick (Newburgh, IN) and Tennessee Operations, he retired as a member of ALCOA’s 25-year club and was a Licensed Professional Engineer. He was a member and elder of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as treasurer for several years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Blackburn and son, Jason Wayne Blackburn. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Pat) Blackburn, son, Scott Michael Blackburn and wife Therese (McCarthy) Blackburn of Frisco, Texas and grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, and Joshua Blackburn, son, Mark Alan Blackburn and wife Valerie (Eby) Blackburn of Franklin, TN and grandchildren, Mason, Dawson, and Annison Blackburn, father, George E. Blackburn of Frankfort, IN, sister, Patricia McQuinn of Michigantown, IN and brother, John Blackburn of Frankfort, IN. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 4, from 5:30 to 7:00 at McCammon–Ammons-Click Funeral Home (www.mccammonammonsclick.com) with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Ronnie Longmire officiating. Graveside service and entombment will be held at Grandview Mausoleum on Friday, November 5 at 10:00.
