George Edward Latham

October 16, 1927 — January 4, 2006

LATHAM, George Edward, age 78 of Friendsville, went home to Heaven early Wednesday morning, January 4, 2006. He was a Naval veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He later went on to serve his country by working at Oak Ridge at K-25 and Y-12 Plants. He actively participated in the United Way while employed at DOE. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oscar and Ella Anva Latham of Maryville and grandmothers, Sally Latham and Elizabeth Kerr, whom he loved all dearly. Survivors include his wife, Clara Joyce Chambers Latham; daughter, Jana Gail Latham; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Randall Butcher of Kodak; grandsons, Justin and Jason Butcher; sisters, Helen Gatlin of Louisville, Jean Carpenter of Maryville, Jo Harrison of Maryland; brothers, Don Latham of Colorado and Kenneth Latham of Florida. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. David Webster officiating.
