Geneva Ivens Reno

June 27, 1920 — January 12, 2015

Geneva Ivens Reno, age 94, went to be with the Lord, January 12, 2015, at Asbury Place, Maryville, TN. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alcoa. She was preceded in death by beloved husband James Elmer Reno - builder, teacher, and businessman. Parents James Houston and Cecil Cole Ivens, brothers Melvin, Winfred, and Rondal Ivens, sisters Carolyn Cagle, Ruby Ingle and infant siblings, Kenneth and Eva Ivens. She is survived by daughter Janie Melton, father of Janie's children, Kenneth Melton, and son Mike and (Patti) Reno. Brother Bobby R. Ivens and sisters Onibe "Fritzie" Logan and Mickey Rudder (Montgomery, AL). Special Niece, Terry (& John) Shipley. Grandchildren: Jenica Melton (Chattanooga), Kenda and Johnny McCord, Scott Melton (Oak Ridge), Jamala and Mike Anderson, Jonathan and Charissa Reno (Tacoma, WA), Susanna and Jason Davis (Dallas, TX), Christina Reno, Elizabeth and Mark Robinson, Sean Larkin. Great grand children, Brooke Fuchcar (Chattanooga), John McCord (Nashville), Jason McCord, and James McCord, Ben Tatham, Beau Tatham, Joseph, Madeline, Katherine, and Zachary Anderson, Bella Davis (Dallas), and Wyatt Reno (Tacoma) and Kinsley Robinson. She also had many special nieces and nephews. Geneva (Grandmommy) enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working in her flower garden. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband. A charter member and Sunday school teacher at Broadway Baptist Church and a long time member of First Baptist Church of Alcoa. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Friendship Force of Knoxville, and the Chilhowee Club. As and Executive Committee Member of the Republican Party, she attended the Inauguration and the Inaugural Ball of President Ronald Reagan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Asbury Place. They provided much love and care towards her for the past three years. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Freeman Tomlin and Chaplain Bruce Farrant officiating. The interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery.
