Gene Caughron

Caughron, Theodore Eugene Gene age 83 of Maryville passed away June 16, 2013 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Maryville, TN, graduate of Maryville High, Sgt.1st Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Gene died of several health issues with his family by his side, having never lost sight of the Lords love and promise of eternal life. Gene owned and operated Caughron Carpet & Tile Flooring Company for many years, often hiring workers others wouldnt hire to teach them a trade and show them that they, too, are worthy of a good life. Gene was a man of great character and integrity. Honest, hardworking, loyal to the Lord, his country, his family and friends. Generous to a fault! Always willing to lend a helping hand and give everyone he knew a chance for a better life. Gene didnt let life get complicated. He faced lifes challenges realistically and with humor. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gaynell Caughron, parents, Raymond and Mary Caughron, sisters Betty Martin and Ethel Bean. He is survived by siblings Sue Begley, Janie Gideon and husband, Norman, Roy Caughron and wife Marilyn, and Jack Bean, husband of sister Ethel and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his daughter, Karen Caughron Eppolito and husband Carl, son Kelly Caughron and wife Kay. Grandchildren Dustin Hillis, wife Kaya with great granddaughter Haven, Travis Hillis, wife Courtney with great grandson Emerson, and Shane Hillis. In addition to Genes family, he leaves behind a multitude of dear friends that made his life complete. Our special thanks to Jack Baumgardner, who was truly a loyal friend to both Gaynell and Gene and always an incredible help to the family. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Caughron and Dr. Howard Olive officiating. The interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a church or charity of your choice.
