Gary Dean Best

Gary Dean Best- Dean was born on January 8, 1938 and went on home to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home. He was a member of Redemption Church in Knoxville. Dean was a lifelong resident of Friendsville, Tennessee. He graduated from Friendsville High School in 1956 and Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1960. He taught math at Alcoa High School, Tyson Junior High, South Young High School and South Doyle High School. He was an avid farmer and golfer, and was known for his gentle love of God and others, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roe Sanders Best and Kathryn James Best. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Delaney Best; daughter Sherri B. McCall; son Gary L. Best and wife Lisa; and son, Dale A. Best and wife Katie, and six grandchildren, Jessi and Joey McCall, Haley, Sarah, Jake, and Isaac Best, sister Janice Tarwater and brother-in-law, Reed of Indianapolis, Indiana. Also survived by extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to Redemption Church, 3550 Pleasant Ridge Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37921, American Cancer Society or The Wounded Warrior Project. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21st, at Redemption Church in Knoxville, Tennessee with service immediately following. Dr. Ed King will officiate. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22nd at Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Friendsville, Tennessee.
