Fred Sherman Newman, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in his beloved wife’s arms on January 27, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys Newman, and brother Jim “James” Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda (Hurst) Newman, son Brian (Caitlin) Newman, and daughter Crisi (Adam) Hurst. Also survived by grandchildren Amber (Newman) Wendel, Bryce Newman, Kaitlyn Messer, Jackson Hurst, River Newman, and several great grand children, nephews and nieces.
Fred was an active member of Victory Baptist Church for over 64 years. He graduated from Everett High School in 1965 and was drafted into the United States Army. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran who received the Purple Heart medal and three Bronze Stars, along with several other medals. He was employed by Alcoa Aluminum Company for over 40 years. He enjoyed camping, hiking, biking, golfing and spending time with his family.
His receiving of friends will be held on Wednesday, February 1st from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Victory Baptist Church in Maryville, Tennessee with the funeral to follow. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 2nd at 11:00AM. Minsters officiating the services are his pastors and dear friends Steve Craft and Larry Bradley.
