Flora E. Simerly

Flora E. Simerly, age 83 walked into the arms of her Savior on December 25, 2023. She was the daughter of Sidney and Ruth Reynolds Neubert. Born in the Hubbard Community where she spent her entire life surrounded by family and friends. She accepted Christ and was Baptized at Pleasant Grove Church where she was a lifelong member. She Served as Church Trustee, Nursery Director, Sunday School Teacher, and many other functions. She Attended Hubbard Elementary, Everett High School and Walland High School, graduating in 1958. She then attended Knoxville Business College and obtained her degree. She met her Husband Richard L. Simerly on the family farm where he worked for her father Sidney. They married and raised three boys, Steve, John and Josh. Flora had a creative and outgoing personality and was quite a character. She was known for her humor and determination. Her six grandchildren have fond memories of the summer vacations that she made happen.

Preceded in death by parents, Sidney and Ruth Reynolds Neubert; brother, Billy Neubert; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Conley Patty; brother, James R. Neubert; granddaughter, Amanda Simerly.

Survived by husband of 64 years, Richard L. Simerly; sons and daughters in law, Richard (Steve) and Jerri Simerly of Buford Georgia, John E. Simerly of Merritt Island Florida; Josh and Paula Simerly of Maryville; grandchildren, Samantha (Lorrin) and Ryan Cullen of Savannah, Georgia, Katie A. and Daniel Stubblefield of Maryville, Richard (Will) Simerly of Winder Georgia, Taylor N. Simerly of Maryville, Matthew Daniel Simerly of Windermere Florida, Dr. Savannah (Marissa) Simerly of Houston Texas; greatgrandchildren, Oliver and Maggie Stubblefield of Maryville and Ruth Simerly of Winder, Georgia; sister-in-law, Am Neubert, many friends and family.

Friends are invited to sign the register from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM, Friday, December 29th, or 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Saturday, December 30th, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 PM. Saturday, December 30th, for a graveside service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Greg Long officiating.
