Farris Sandifur, known by friends as Doe Belly, passed away January 7, at UT Hospital at the age of 80. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 60 years, the last 35 years he was employed by Blount Excavating, Inc. Doe Belly was known to be the best dozer man in the business. Preceded in death by parents, Maynard and Ann Sandifur, and 4 siblings; children, Randy and Bobby Sandifur, Annie Davis and Teresa Hurst, stepson, Dan Keaton; grandchildren, Matthew Covington, April Hurst and Brittany Sandifur. Survivors, wife of 42 years, Ruby Sandifur; children: Sherry Sandifur, Donna and Wayne Wilbanks, Tammy and Ricky Burchell; stepchildren, Darlene and Rick Stanley, Robin and Ray Harrill; brother, Ike Sandifur; grandchildren, Danny Covington, Ricky, Cody and McKensi Burchell, Jessie Hurst, Tiffany Sandifur, Emily and Katie Harrill, Rusty Keaton, T.D. Archer and 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home followed by a 2:00 p.m. funeral service. The interment will follow at Zion Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis, Juvenile Diabetes or MS societies.
