Eva Sexton Vandyke

Eva Sexton VanDyke, age 85 of Friendsville, TN, formerly of KY, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Born June 26, 1926 in Russell County, VA, she attended Grundy High School where she played basketball. She lived in Eastern KY for more than 50 years, was a homemaker and an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan. Mrs. VanDyke was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward VanDyke and parents, Walter and Nannie Sexton. Survivors include her children, Gloria VanDyke of IN, Gary VanDyke of FL and Beverly Sellars of TN; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Mausoleum of Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery, Richlands, VA. The interment will follow in the Clinch Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
