Eugene Erskine (Gene) McCurry of Alcoa Died at Blount Memorial Hospital June 12, 2002. He was a Graduated from Maryville College in the class of ‘41, US Navy Veteran, Proprietor of Parkway Auto Parts in Knoxville for 35 years, Past President of Alcoa Kiwanis, Past President of the East Tennessee Square Dance Association, Past President of Blount County Chapter of AARP, Associate State Director of AARP for three years, Past Deacon and Elder at New Providence Presbyterian Church, and Past President of Presbyterian Men. Mr. McCurry loved sharing humorous stories with various local organizations. Preceded in death by: Parents, E. E. and Callie McCurry, Wife, Margaret (Peggy) McCurry, Son, Joe McCurry. Survived by: Daughters, Karen McCurry of Knoxville, Linda McCurry Rose and husband Jim Rose of Townsend, Trish McCurry of Maryville, Barbara McCurry Morgan and husband Doug Morgan of Rutledge Daughter-in-law, Penny McCurry Hickman of Louisville. Grandchildren, Karen Wagoner of Knoxville, David Rose of Chapel Hill, NC, Angela Rose of Denver Colorado, Jody McCurry of Maryville, Warren Dockter of Alcoa, and Joseph Morgan of Rutledge. Two great grandchildren. The Family will Receive friends Friday, June 14, 2002, from 4-6:00 PM at New Providence Presbyterian Church Chapel. A Private interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to New Providence Presbyterian Church, 703 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37801 or the E. E. McCurry scholarship fund which was established at Maryville College in memory of Gene McCurry’s father “Mr. Mac”, 501 E.
