Eugene B. “Nick” Nicholson, age 87 of Greenback, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004, at his home. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church in Greenback where he was a Sunday School teacher, was a 32nd Degree Mason, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II being one of the first groups of Sea Bees serving in the Pacific and Atlantic. He was retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Service Club, a member of the Beekeepers Association, Vice-President of the Greenback Senior Citizens and a member of the Gingham Gang Band. Mr. Nicholson was a member of the NRA since World War II and organized the local NRA, where he earned an award established in his name which is given yearly. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Jean, daughter, Carol Jane Hill and great granddaughter, Sarah Neubert. Survivors include his wife, Lee Nicholson; grandchildren, Ray Hill of Knoxville, Rick and Julie Hill of Knoxville, Jim and Michelle Hill of Fredericksburg, VA, Beth and Jim Neubert of Knoxville, Nicole Hill; great grandchildren, Mark and Kristin Hill of Fredericksburg, VA, Lauren, Rachel and Roby Neubert of Knoxville; son-in-law, Howard Hill of Knoxville; 2 stepchildren, Larry and Connie Gosnell and Gail and Jerry Fann; 3 step grandchildren, Jason Gosnell, Gerri Lynn Cox and Joshua Gosnell; one step great grandchild, Natalie Cox. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel followed by a funeral service with Rev. Alvin Patton officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
