Etta Louise Myers Rainwater, born July 17, 1920 in Maryville, Tennessee, passed away December 25, 2016 at her home in Maryville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by parents Nathan Myers and Martha (Caylor) Myers; husband of 60 years H. P. Rainwater; sisters Irene Black, Euretha Patterson, Rosy Everett, Carsie Cope, Victoria Myers; brothers Levi Myers and Arthur Myers. She is survived by her children and their spouses: daughter Gerry (Rainwater) Grindstaff and R. L. Grindstaff; daughter, Shirley (Rainwater) Stinnett and Roy Stinnett; son Pete Rainwater and Judy Rainwater; son Randy Rainwater and Priscilla Rainwater. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and Antonietta Haralson, loved as a daughter, along with her husband and children. Louise was raised on a farm on Cochran Road and after marriage sewed nurse's uniforms during WW II. After the war she went on to become a talented seamstress and quilter providing clothes and quilts for family and friends. She worked as a cook at Claxton Elementary School for a few years during the 20 years her family resided in Claxton, Tennessee while H.P. worked at the Oak Ridge K-25 Plant. Louise served as a volunteer at Morning View Village Assisted Living for 13 years. She enjoyed cooking and hiking and became an avid reader after she was no longer able to hike. She hiked the Smokey Mountain trails until she was 87. She was an active servant in Zion Baptist Church in Claxton, Tennessee and Forest Hill Baptist Church in Maryville serving in missions education, outreach, ministry to the sick and shut-in, Vacation Bible School, and teaching Sunday School until she was 95. Louise Rainwater was a kind, patient and loving mother and friend. She kept her joyful and pleasant spirit throughout her final days. She is sadly missed but joyously released to her new home. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. The family will gather, following the service, at Sherwood Mausoleum for the entombment service. The family will receive friends from 10-12:00 Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate to Forest Hill Baptist Church Haiti Fund.
