Emily Moye Hadley

December 12, 1902 — February 5, 2003

HADLEY, Emily Moye, age 100, mother of Martha Hadley Callaway of Maryville, died on February 5, 2003, at Asbury Acres Health Care Center. Formerly of Greenville, NC, Mrs. Hadley had lived in Maryville for the past nine years. A 1924 graduate of Salem College, Winston Salem, NC, Mrs. Hadley taught second grade in Greenville from 1940-1949. For 19 years she traveled a territory of thirteen eastern North Carolina counties as an inspector for the N.C. Department of Labor. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha Hadley Callaway and Dr. Henry Abbott Callaway, Jr.; four grandsons, Henry Abbott Callaway, III of Mobile, AL, Dr. Thomas Howard Callaway of Atlanta, Ga, Dr. George Hadley Callaway of Raleigh, and Edward Moye Callaway of Nashville, TN; nine great grandchildren, Miller and Harrison Callaway of Mobile, Patton and Isabel Callaway of Atlanta, Darden, Sherwood and Lee Callaway of Raleigh, and Caleb and Elizabeth Callaway of Nashville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church in Greenville, NC, where Mrs. Hadley had been a member for 90 years. Burial will be in the Cherry Hill Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Jarvis Memorial Church, 510 S. Washington, Greenville, NC 27834.
