Maryville

Eloise Garland Dailey, 93, died peacefully on the morning of Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was born on January 5, 1931, in Cades Cove, where she lived until the National Park Service made her birthplace The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She graduated from Lanier High School, and married her sweetheart, Marion Shope Dailey. As the wife of an active Army soldier, she followed him around the world. She became a resource person and support for other military wives and families. She took college courses so she could be more adept in military and insurance information.

Eloise was a Christian and a proud member of Meadowbrook Christian Church. She was responsible for leading many to Christ with her witnessing. Her compassion and heart of gold knew no bounds – she canned and preserved fruits and vegetables to feed her own family, and any other family in need. You never left her house without a meal and a glass of sweet tea.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Shope Dailey; daughter, Teresa McMahan; parents, Harve Isaac Garland and Martha Myers Garland; brothers, Danie, Johnny, Hoyt, Virgil, and Charles Garland; sisters, Lola Hall, Jo Painter, and Margie Edwards.

Survived by her children; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Gene Thompson, daughter Betty Jo Dailey, and son Wiley Dailey; grandchildren, Reese McMahan, Caitlyn McMahan, and their father, Earl McMahan; Elise (Matt) Mincy, Isaac Ashworth, and their father, Charlie Ashworth; great-grandchildren, Jayden Ramirez, Tessa Finger, Raiven Dixon, and Maddie Vance; brother, Paul Garland; sisters, Ann Swayney, Corrinne Atchley, and Katherine Mahan; several nieces and nephews; her special friend who was like a precious daughter to her, Peggy Baxter; and bonus sons and daughters, Tim MacMillan, Anthony Bartl, Rachel Dixon and Macaylia Sutton.

Graveside services and internment will be 9:00 A.M. at Grandview Cemetery on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Joy Gaertner will be officiating. Vocals provided by Jimmy Long.
