Carrigan, Ella Mae of Alcoa and Maryville passed away Tuesday, August 6. She was born in the Boyd Creek Community to Ola Ann Ogle Allen and Harry Clemmons Allen January 2, 1919. She and Kenneth Carrigan were married May 2, 1936 in the home of Reverend Eddie Carrigan in Maryville. Seven children were born of that marriage. For many years she was a homemaker and later worked in the dietary department at Asbury Acres Retirement Center. She also worked as a personal care giver in nursing homes and patients homes for several years. A member of Alcoa Garden Club, she enjoyed working in her flowers immensely, and surrounded her home with beautiful flowers and shrubs. She won several awards for her flowers and plants. She was a wonderful cook and often entertained family and friends with large home cooked meals. During fellowship time her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, Alcoa, enjoyed her coconut cream pies. She especially enjoyed day trips with her Sunday school class and her garden club friends. Predeceasing her were her parents, her husband, two daughters, Judy Carol Carrigan Tobler and Mary Lou Carrigan Hunter; grandson, Patrick Christopher Carrigan; sister, Marie Allen McCroskey; brothers, Markus DeLafayette Allen and James Roscoe Allen; sisters-in-law, Kitty-Allen and Louise Davis Allen; and brothers-in-law, James McCroskey and Joseph DeSimone. Surviving her are daughters Janice Carrigan Godfrey and husband Larry of Maryville, and Robin Carrigan Nance and husband Wade of Lancing, Tennessee; sons Don Carrigan and wife Doris of Walland, Dean Carrigan and wife Jane of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Danny Carrigan and wife Beverly of Maryville; son-in-law, Don Hunter of Oregon; fourteen grand-children, twenty-four great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; sisters Bernice Allen DeSimone of Connecticut, June Allen Terry and husband, Joe Terry of Alabama, brothers John Allen of Knoxville and Bill Allen of Texas, sister-in-law , Jane Allen of South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, August 8, at 7:00 pm at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of the Horizon Unit, Maryville Kindred Health Care and Rehabilitation facility and the staff of Blount Memorial Hospice.
