Maryville, TN

Elizabeth Train, lovingly known as Betty, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her own home in Maryville, TN on September 11, 2024. Born on June 26, 1952, the hottest day on record for Brooklyn, NY, Betty lived a life filled with unmatched positivity, tremendous passion, resilient strength and unbiased kindness towards others. Betty enjoyed watching movies, tv shows, especially Hallmark and most recently, ‘Reba’, watching football with family, especially the Broncos and the Vols, loved going camping, road trips, and any events that involved her grandchildren. Betty is described by those closest to her as a beautiful, considerate, selfless, patient, thoughtful, determined, caring, gentle, loyal, and all around, an irreplaceable woman. She embodied a remarkable blend of generosity and compassion, creating a positive impact on everyone around her. She always fought for what was right, especially if it involved her family. Betty gave thoughtful advice at a moment’s notice to all of her friends and family. She was thrifty, whether it was finding a way to make a good meal on a budget to singing songs while waiting in the car, she always managed to find fun in every situation. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Train, and her children, John Train II and his wife, Laura, Deborah Breheny and her husband, Owen, and Jennifer Barry and her husband, Roland, and her 11 grandchildren,Thomas, Sierra, Cydney, Ashley, Reese, William, Avery, Elsie, Dorothy, Roland, and Marley, whose lives were greatly enriched by her presence. Betty was one of 8 children, survived by her brothers Jim and Charlie, and her sisters Grace and Sue. Her departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love that lives on in their hearts. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Kahrs, and her siblings, Patricia, Edward, and Eleanor. Betty was a shining example of how to treat others, a value that was central to her character. Her years were marked by her kindness, empathy, and capacity to bring joy to those around her.One of Betty’s most commendable accomplishments was her family. Instead of being caught up in a career, her lifetime was dedicated to being present as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Betty Train, a beacon of kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts. Her legacy, exemplified by her integrity, warmth, and compassion, will continue to inspire and guide us. As we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing that she is restored in Heaven, and no longer in pain.
