MISER, Elizabeth Rachel McMillan, born October 3, 1915 in Crete, NE, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. She married Gordon McConnell Miser on January 5, 1946 and was married 50 years before his death in September 1996. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon, a member of the Choir and Circle 7. Mrs. Miser graduated from Doane College in Crete, NE in 1937. After college she was a high school English and Music teacher. She made a career change from education into social work starting first as a foster care case worker with Child and Family Services in Knoxville. She worked for the Department of Human Services in Knoxville, TN as the Supervisor of Day Care Licensing for the East TN Region. She served on the Board of Directors of Haven House, was a volunteer for the Contact organization and a former President of the Knoxville Association of Young Children. She played the piano and the cello, was an avid gardener, and loved to cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon McConnell Miser; parents, Raymond Leroy McMillan and Mary Leavitt McMillan; brothers, Paul McMillan and Malcolm McMillan. Survivors include her children, Mac Miser, David Miser and wife Linda all of Maryville, Danny Miser and wife Debbie of Friendsville and Mary Beth Holzhausen and husband Dave of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Bradley Miser, Kimberly Miser, John Miser, Matthew Miser and Anne Marie Holzhausen; brother, Donald McMillan and wife Marie of Mason, MI. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 at New Providence Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. Emily Anderson and Rev. Steve Musick officiating. The interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Haven House, P. O.
