YOUNG, Christine Hunnicutt of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at her home after a long illness. For many years, she was a member of the Board of Directors Knoxville Chapter of Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities and a member of the Jefferson City Chapter APTA. She was elected secretary of the State Association in 1964 and remained active in the organization until illness prevented her from active participation. She was then appointed to the Board of Trust and continued her interest by phone and correspondence. Mrs. Young was born in Maryville, TN, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Hunnicutt and was a graduate of Maryville College. While living in Mobile, AL, she was on the staff of the Mobile Times newspaper. Later, while living in Atlanta, GA, she served as Vice-President of the Atlanta League of Women Voters, and was a member of the High Museum of Art. Dr. and Mrs. Young were married in Washington in 1948 and Mrs. Young became a member of the District of Columbia Medical Society and Ladies Board of Directors of Georgetown University Hospital. The Youngs came to Knoxville a few years later when Dr. Young became a partner with Dr. J. M. Stockman. Mrs. Young was formerly married to the late John H. Wienand, Jr., and the late Robert E. Lee Counts. Mrs. Young served as secretary of the Knoxville Medical Auxiliary, Board of Directors of Travelers Aid Society, Talahi Garden Club, Cherokee Country Club and National Trust for Historic Preservation. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Eugene Hunnicutt. Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Mary Lee McCuskey of Louisville, TN; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lucy Hunnicutt of Alexandria, VA; nephew, R. E. Hunnicutt of Florida; niece, Mrs. Frank Craig of Dallas, TX; 3 grandnieces in the Washington, DC area. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery, where Dr. Young, who died February 10, 1997, is buried, for a graveside service with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating.
