Edward Clyde ''Brute'' Crow

May 23, 1910 — December 13, 2008

Edward Clyde “Brute” Crow, age 98 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Fair Park Nursing Center. He was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and graduated from Maryville College in 1930. He worked for ALCOA for 34 years, was a member of the 25 Year Service Club, worked many years for Blazer Insurance and was a charter member of Alcoa Rotary. Mr. Crow was on the first City of Alcoa volunteer Fire Department, was one of 3 people who helped establish Alcoa Little League and was its first president, he was president of the Boys Club, chair of the Blount County Chapter of the American Red Cross, named Blount County Senior Man of the Year in 1954 by the Maryville Alcoa Jaycees and helped promote the first Blount County United Fund in 1954 (now United Way Campaign). He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Redmond Crow, grandson, Chuck Bogle and brothers, Cecil Crow and Brice Crow. Survivors include his son, Charles “Buddy” Bogle of Louisville; grandchildren, Mike and Bunnee Bogle of Maryville, Renee and George Sarten of Lenoir City; great grandchildren, Brooke Darnell of Maryville, Lauren and B. J. Wilhite of Orlando, FL, Lindsey and Stephen Pacifico of Johnson City, Kelly and Michael Watkins of Lenoir City, Ashley Sarten of Lenoir City, Julie and Josh Gallahar of Norfolk, VA; great great grandchildren, Sydney Phillips, Emerson Darnell, Bryson Watkins. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Chapel for an entombment service with Rev. Joe Green officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
