September 3, 2011 Edna Hill, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Sat., September 3. She was an active member of Forest Hill Baptist Church and faithfully raised her family in the church. She retired from Levi Strauss after 35 years of service. After retirement, she remained active on the family farm and was instrumental in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom she was so proud. Her life and walk with Christ was a witness to all who knew her. Life is made up, not of great sacrifices or duties, but of the little things, in which smiles and kindness are what preserves our heart. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Elmer R. Hill, and her son James Howard Hill; her parents: Roy and Lola Murr; sisters: Alma Lee McGhee and Unave McCollum; brothers: Garlin, Aubrey, Allan and Luther Murr. She was survived by her children: Linda Wilson, Pat Bales and husband - Bob, John Hill and wife - Ann, Becky Wingo and husband - George. She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren: Kristin and John Myers of Marietta, GA, Justine Carpenter of Maryville, Darren and Penny Rogers of Knoxville, Dana and Tony Hummel of Louisville, Samantha and Brett Worley of Knoxville, Nicholas Hill of Travelers Rest, SC, Laura Hill of Maryville, Christopher Hill of Johnson City, Chad and Megan Wingo of Norfolk, VA, Kevin and Katie Wingo of Newnan, GA; 16 great-grandchildren: Will, Hannah and Andrew Myers, Ashley Carpenter, Garrett Griffith and Alyssa Hummel, Karrie and Kyle Bowen and Karston Worley, Wesley, Nathan, Lydia and Reece Hill, Colton Roland and Carson and Josie Wingo. Special Thanks to Penny Kirkland with Blount Memorial Hospice and especially her caregivers Edith Teffeteller and Shirley Russell. The family will receive friends Monday, September 5th from 5 to 7p.m. at Forest Hill Baptist Church with Memorial Service officiated by Reverend Gary Thomas immediately following. In Lieu of flowers, it was her wish to have donations made to Forest Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1850 Forest Hill Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
