Edna Jean Eidson Pressley

Edna Jean Eidson Pressley, age 77 of Walland, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. She graduated from Lanier High School and attended National Business College, Knoxville, TN, and received a J.D. degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law, Atlanta, GA. She was born and grew up in Blount County, TN. Edna moved to Atlanta, GA and met her husband, Wayne, while attending law school. Wayne was one of her teachers and taught her domestic relations. They were married September 14, 1968, in Atlanta, GA. Except for a brief time in New York, they lived in Atlanta until Wayne died on October 15, 2000. She retired September 1, 2001, from the Office of Legislative Counsel, General Assembly of Georgia, Atlanta, GA, after 30 years service and moved to Walland, TN in 2002. She joined Fairview United Methodist Church in June, 2003, and did volunteer work for the church, including visiting shut-ins and working in the church office, and was active in the Best Tedford/Agnes McConnell Circle of the UMW and the Sparkplug Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Wayne Pressley; parents, Herbert and Blanche Eidson; brother, Thomas Ross Eidson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Weldon and Edna Presley; brothers-in-law, Landon Pete Lawson and Wayne Walker. Survivors include brother, Sam Eidson and wife, Barbara, of Green Valley, AZ; sisters, Barbara Lawson of Walland, TN and Jane Walker of Townsend, TN; nieces, Darlene Willis and husband, Jerry, of Knoxville, TN, Shannon Phillips and husband, Johnny of Maryville, TN, Michelle Deck and husband, Jason, of Rockford, TN, Candace Hendrick and husband, John, of Maryville, TN, Teresa Maxwell and husband, Larry, of Jackson, GA, Barbara Buice and husband, Darrin, of Griffin, GA; nephews, Mike Lawson of Walland, TN, Herbert Eidson and wife, Sally, of Tucson, AZ, Brian Eidson and wife, Lori, of Gilbert, AZ; John Eidson and Tracy, of Scottsdale, AZ, Zack Presley of Griffin, GA; Zeno Presley and wife, Barbara, of Griffin, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Sherry Presley of Griffin, GA; several great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with the service to be at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Gilbert Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Sandy Springs Chapel, Sandy Springs, GA. The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs.
