LEITCH, Edith Hitch, born July 20, 1919, died peacefully at home on Friday, November 30, 2007. She was a graduate of both Maryville High School and Maryville College. She taught in the Blount County School system, initially at Porter Elementary and later at Chilhowee View Elementary. Following her retirement, she devoted 26 years to the Blount Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in a number of areas. Her Christian faith was reflected in her sincere love for others and her dedication to volunteer service. She loved visiting with friends and family and greeting new people with her warm, contagious smile. Edith was active in church and was previously a member of Logan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in the Wildwood community, where she taught Sunday School, worked with youth, and served in many other areas. For the past several years, she had been a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Maryville. Preceded in death by husband, Stirling Leitch; father, Elias Tipton Hitch; mother, Lula McGinley Hitch; brother, James and his wife, Mary; brother, Frank Hitch; sister, Susie Hitch; and brother, Harris Hitch. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Louise Leitch Ridenour and husband, Minnis of Blacksburg, VA; Jean Leitch Hubbs and husband, Bob of Maryville; Thomas H. Leitch and wife, Sherry, of Parsons, TN; and Albert S. Leitch and wife, Gail of Seymour. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Maxine Hitch of Maryville; nieces, nephews, and many personal friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2007, at Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. Memorials can be made to Broadway United Methodist Church, 309 E.
