Edith Ann Cate

Edith Ann Cate, age 84, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was a devoted and faithful follower of Jesus Christ and long-time member of Monte Vista Baptist Church. “Mimi,” as she was called by her grandchildren, was loved by everyone who knew her and she truly embodied the fruit of the spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin & Ruby White, and her sister, Shirley McBride. Mimi loved life, loved her friends, and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Once all her kids were in school, Mimi started working part-time for Dr. Kenneth Marmon at his pediatric practice. Little did she know that that would turn into a 32-year career, ultimately serving as the manager/administrator for Maryville Pediatric Group. She was passionate about her work, loved her co-workers and the families who came to the practice. She also loved her church and church family and was a very active member until her move to Brentwood in 2018. 

She is survived by her children and spouses, Jeff (Donna) of Brentwood, TN, Cathy (Gary) of Lexington, KY, and Mark (Cathy) of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren Joe Wright (Natalie) of Santa Rosa, CA, Alex (Logan) Cate and daughter Ann Elizabeth of Athens, AL, Chelsea Cate of Nashville, TN, Caroline Cate of Knoxville, TN, Bailey Cate of Bonn, Germany, Andrew Cate of Washington, DC, Abbie Cate of Washington, DC; and other special nephews, niece and family members. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Friday, November 11 at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home and a service of celebration will follow at 2:00. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
