Garner, Earl D. age 84 of Knoxville formerly of Maryville died Friday December 20th 2002 at Manor House in Knoxville after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church, retired from ALCOA as a Mechanical engineer, and a member of the 25 year service club, he was a previous member of the Optimist Club, and he was a mason, he was the nephew of the late Herbert S. “Bert” Garner, he was the last of eight children, and he was a WWII veteran, having served under General George Patton. He is preceded in death by his first wife Helen Garner, and bros Ben, Bill, Herbert, and Bob, sisters Helen and Edna. He is survived by his wife Lena (Lee) Garner, sons and daughters in laws Steve and Luanne Garner of Knoxville, and Robert and Debbie Garner of Kansas, stepsons Stephen Webb and Philip Webb, and 6 grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Raines and Dr. John Franklin officiating. The family and friends will meet Thursday December 26th 2002 at 12:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery in Webber City Va. for the interment service.
