Dr. Sam E. Crawford, Jr., age 89, of Maryville, Tenn., passed away at his home Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Dr. Crawford was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ann Parris Crawford. He is survived by his daughter Jane LeMar (Brian) of Nashville and their children, Kevin LeMar (Ashleigh), Claire Martin (Michael), Phillip LeMar (Kristen); son Dan Crawford of Marietta, GA; grandsons, Seth Crawford and Benjamin (Ramona) Crawford; sister, Betty Cornett and husband Jim of Maryville; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Crawfords caregivers: Cindy Jenkins, Laura Little-Bell, and Laurie Sewell. He was born in Maryville to the late S. Earle Crawford, Sr. and Erma Hall Crawford. Dr. Crawford remained a resident of Maryville his entire life and was a dentist in Maryville for over 45 years. He was a member of the Maryville Church of Christ, Maryville Optimist Club, Farm Bureau of Blount County, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and Second District Dental Society. Dr. Crawford was an avid gardener and loved raising beef cattle on his farm. He was a graduate of Maryville High School, attended Maryville College, and was a graduate of University of Tennessee Dental School. He served in Japan post World War II in the Army Dental Corps. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. A memorial service will be at 10:30 AM Thursday at Maryville Church of Christ with Minister Jonathan Jones, II officiating. Interment service will be held at Grandview following the memorial service.
