Dr. John Richard Driskill

Dr. John Richard Driskill, 75, of Maryville died Monday, July 5, 2010, at his home. Born in Newport, TN, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ross P. and Hazel (Ownby) Driskill. Dr. Driskill is survived by his wife, Mary Potter Driskill; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Mike Vescio of Pendleton, Oregon; two sons: Michael Ross Driskill of Nashville and John Owen Driskill and his wife Jenny (Geisler) Driskill of Oak Ridge; and two grandchildren: Michael David Vescio, Jr. and Katherine Mary Vescio, both of Pendleton, Oregon. A Maryville High School alumnus, Dr. Driskill graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Memphis. He served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps and achieved the rank of major. Following his military service, Dr. Driskill returned to Maryville, where he practiced dentistry for many years. He was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, Sigma Chi Fraternity, the American Dental Association and the Second District Dental Society of the Tennessee Dental Association. An avid hiker, Dr. Driskill enjoyed backpacking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, photographing wildflowers, and camping with his family. He was also a lifelong fan of University of Tennessee athletics. Family members will gather at Grandview Cemetery for a private interment and will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, 220 W. Broadway in Maryville. A memorial service, officiated by the Rev.
