Dr. James Holmes Emert, age 85 of Maryville, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church where he served the Church in many capacities. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corp, attended Emory University and U. T. College of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Maryville for 41 years and was active in dental organization for many years. Survivors include his wife, Clariece Emert; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Cindy Emert of Knoxville, John and Sonya Emert of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Suzy and Terry Vineyard of Tellico Village; grandchildren, Jason Emert, Josh Emert, Maggie Terry-Emert, Ellie Terry-Emert, Ted “Buddy†Arnold, Jim Arnold; sister, Sara Jo Kramer and husband Roy; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Pastors Brenda and Larry Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. A private interment service will be at Grandview Cemetery.
