Dorothy Rosalie Thompson Coxen- passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at Maple Shire Nursing Home in Morgantown, WV. She was born in Unaka, North Carolina, a daughter of the late James Frank and Sue Shackleford Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton E. Eugene Coxen; infant daughter, Rebecca Anne Coxen; sisters, Reba Thompson and Peggy Thompson Courtney; brother, Charles Thompson and his wife Lillian. Mrs. Coxen was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown. She retired from WVU Medical Center where she worked as an LPN Nurse. She was a member with the Women’s Society for Christian Services at Wesley UMC in Morgantown, as well as past youth director with Bluefield UMC in Bluefield, WV. She also was a member of the Durbannah Garden Club in Morgantown. She was described by a friend as “born to give love, she was nurturing and caring, she was a true southern gentlewomenâ€. Survived by- Daughter, Susan Coxen of Morgantown, WV; Son, John and his wife Tami of Port Allegheny, PA; Grandsons, Sean and James Coxen; Sisters, Jeanne Thompson Bright and Susan Thompson of Maryville, Babe and her husband Byron Bradley; brother-in-law, Clinton Courtney; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews Family and friends will meet 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December, 30, 2008 at Unitia Cemetery for a graveside service with The Rev. Darryll Rasnake officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown, WV.
