CRAWFORD, Dorothy N., age 88 of Maryville, died Saturday, August 24, 2002, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church where for a number of years she served as church librarian and was active in the Women’s Association. She retired as a librarian from Maryville College. She was born December 31, 1913, in Green River, Utah, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Nethery. After graduation from Maryville College in 1935, she taught English and Latin in Akeley, Minnesota, before her marriage to Hugh Crawford on December 29, 1937. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her sister, Miriam Smith and husband Tom of Lexington, KY; sisters-in-law, Ruth Lamon of Maryville, Elizabeth Roper of Kingsport, TN and Lillian McQueen and her brother-in-law, John McQueen of Maryville; her three children and their spouses, Tom and Pat Crawford of Brevard, NC, Louise and David Berry of Maryville, David and Eileen Crawford of Gallatin, TN; six grandchildren, Jack Crawford of Cumming, GA, Pam Hooper of Indian Trail, NC, Melissa Berry of Louisville, TN, Mark Berry of Charleston, SC, Adam Crawford of Gallatin, TN, Megan Crawford of Decatur, GA; two great grandchildren, Mallory Hooper and Duncan Crawford. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 31, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at New Providence Presbyterian Church with Rev. Emily Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary after the memorial service. Prior to the church service, there will be a graveside service for the family at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Maryville College, 501 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804; to the Blount County Library, 508 N.
