Doris Irene Requa

Doris I. Requa, 89, of Maryville, TN, formerly of Rantoul, IL, passed peacefully on May 13, 2016. She was a resident of Shannondale. Doris was born on February 27, 1927, daughter of Rev. Dosson and Effie Holland. She married Leslie D. Requa on August 30, 1945. They were married 49 years before his death in 1994. Doris was a lifelong Methodist, the daughter of a Methodist pastor. She served as church financial secretary and participated for many years in the music, education, and women's ministries of First United Methodist, Rantoul, IL. After moving to Maryville, she became an active member of First United Methodist, Maryville. She was preceded in death by her brother, two sisters, and a grandson, Jonathan Daves. Survivors include, daughter, Susan Daves and son David Requa (Jan); grandchildren, Stephen (Jennifer) Daves Jr., Adam (Ashley) Daves, Kenneth (Krysta) Requa and Susan Requa; and great-grandchildren, Sidney and Sarah Daves, Dosson Daves, and Lincoln Requa. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, May 17, 6:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Maryville. Receiving of friends will follow in Wesley Hall. There will be a private interment at Grandview Cemetery on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maryville First United Methodist Church Music Ministry or Welcome Table Ministry.
