Donald Swift Keeler, 88, passed away on May 27, 2012 in Maryville, Tennessee. He was born on October 12,1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to Alonzo Clyde and Florence Belle (Swift) Keeler. He grew up in Stow, Ohio and graduated from Stow High School. Don attended Fenn College. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps in the Pacific theater during World War II. He married Donna Rech in 1948 in Marion, Ohio. He had a long and outstanding career with AT&T Long Lines that involved multiple moves. He started as a lineman and retired in 1981 as a Government Communications Manager. He retired to Hilton Head Island where he was an active member of the community. Don was an avid golfer and boater. He was a member of Dolphin Head Golf Club and the Hilton Head Power Squadron, and a Past Commodore of the Hilton Head Plantation Yacht Club. He and Donna moved to Maryville in 2010. Don is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Donna (Rech) Keeler. He was the loving father of Susan Keeler (Dennis) Hunter and James Patrick (Linda Smolak) Keeler. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jesse Matthew Keeler, Meghan Claire Keeler, Marlyce Tryon Lagalo, Nathaniel Dean Hunter, and D. Chad Hunter and one great-grandchild, Jocelin Keira Hunter. Don was known for his generosity of spirit and his sense of humor. A memorial will be scheduled for a later date. The Interment will be at the National Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Dons memory.
