Donald Brown Painter, 74, of Friendsville, died Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the family home. Mr. Painter was a member of Friendsville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Merle Painter and son, Russ Painter. Donald worked with his father, as a barber, at the family owned shop in Friendsville before going to work at the railroad. Mr. Painter was a member of the 134th Tennessee Air National Guard. He was deployed during the Berlin Crisis, were he packed parachutes for the F-104 aircrafts. In 1962, he was stationed at Ramstein AFB in Berlin, Germany. Mr. Painter worked at Alcoa Aluminum Company and TVA as a licensed electrician and welder. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and retired from TVA in 2003. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed cattle farming. Survivors include: wife, Carol Jean Painter; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Sharon Painter; son, David Painter; grandson, Travis Painter, and brother, LeRoy Painter. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Johnny and Pat Russell, Jimmy and Susan Russell, and Cindy and Kenny Smith. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Betty Furches officiating. Family and friends will reconvene at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Cloyds Creek Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blount Memorial Hospice, 1095 E.
