Surrounded by his family, Don Carrigan of Walland went to be with our Lord Friday, November 8th at 9:45 am. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Ella Mae Carrigan and daughter, Donna Verble.
He leaves his wife of sixty-seven years, Doris Carrigan; sons, Dennis and David (Tamra) Carrigan; son-in-law, David Verble; grandsons, Jeremy Carrigan (Amelia), Josh Carrigan (Erica), Chris Kidd (Taylor), Lyle Rapien and Huck Hyde; granddaughters, Stephanie McNulty (Kyle), Mary Grace Lane (Caid); great-grandchildren, Meela and Micah McNulty, Emmet Bear and Ranger Kidd, Lawson Carrigan; brother, Danny Carrigan (Beverly); sisters, Janice Godfrey, Robin Nance; sister-in-law, Jane Carrigan; brother-in-law, Don Hunter
He graduated from Alcoa High School in 1955. Then he served our country in the U.S. Navy for eight years. He worked at IBM for 28 years in various positions. After retirement, he had adventures with four grandchildren while their parents worked.
Don was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. He loved his family dearly and he was a positive, upbeat person. He had many interests and hobbies including designing and building the family home. He also designed the stained-glass pieces that were featured throughout the house. He was a rock and gem collector.
Don Carrigan was a kind and gentle man who liked everyone he met and had a curiosity about an interest in everyone.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
A celebration of Don’s life will be announced later.
