Della Maples Whaley

WHALEY, DELLA MAPLES - age 74 of Rockford, met her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 22 at U.T. Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved the ministry of Billy Graham, outdoor birds, and was an avid VT Vol and Atlanta Braves fan. She was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and Valedictorian of Pittman Center High School Class of 1950. Preceded in death by parents, McKinley and Virgie Maples, brother Willard Maples, sisters, Ethel Caughron and Ruby Williams. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: loving husband of 53 years, Sanders K. Whaley, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Danny Roberts; devoted ''only'' grandson Matthew Roberts and precious granddaughter Miriam Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Tony O'Mary; granddaughters Kristen Franklin, Katie O'Mary and Kellie O'Mary; brothers Fred Maples and Ben Maples; sisters Lottie Loveday and Beulah Purkey Atkins; special sister-in-law Delores Maples; dear brother-in-law and wife, Glenn and Brenda Whaley; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Christopher Sawyer and Staff and Dr. Timothy Panella and Staff for their love, .support and care of ''Mrs. Della'' during her illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Sunday, November 26 in the chapel at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Cody and Dr. John Franklin officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 PM Monday at Clark's Grove Cemetery, Maryville for burial. Pallbearers will be Matthew Roberts, Chad Bell, Eric Conley, Jacob Fowler, Cody Hawn and Chad Zurcher. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM prior to the funeral service at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
