David Frank Sweitzer

November 26, 1936 — December 12, 2022

David Frank Sweitzer, age 86, of Maryville, passed away on December 12, 2022.


He was a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the Tennessee Division of Rehabilitation Services, a part-time minister, and a military chaplain.


Churches that he served as a part-time minister include Pond Grove Christian Church, Rockwood, Tennessee; Ozone Presbyterian Church, Ozone, Tennessee; Meadowbrook Christian Church, Maryville, Tennessee; Miller’s Chapel Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Alpine, Tennessee; and Axley’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Greenback, Tennessee.


He served with the Tennessee Air National Guard for three years in a military police unit. He served with the U.S. Air Force for four years in an intelligence unit. He also served with the Tennessee State Guard for twenty-one years as a company commander and as a regimental chaplain.


He was preceded in death by his father, Louis B. Sweitzer and by his mother, Maurine A. Sweitzer.


He is survived by his wife, Donna S. Sweitzer; by his brother, Jerry N. Sweitzer; and by his sister, Jenny L. Swilley.


He is also survived by three sons, Christopher S. Sweitzer, Mark T. Sweitzer, and D. Michael Sweitzer; and by one daughter, Kimberly P. Delaney.


Family and friends will gather at Magnolia Cemetery for the graveside service and interment which will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 17, 2022, with Rev. Megan Stubblefield officiating.
