Daniel Curtis Hamer III
July 28, 1950 - April 12, 2022
Daniel Curtis Hamer III, 71, was born July 28, 1950. He was the son of Daniel Curtis Hamer Jr. (Winston Salem, NC), Mary Parman Hamer (San Angelo, Tx) and stepmother Alease Hamer (Goldsboro, NC). He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned medals including the distinguished purple heart. He recently relocated to Knoxville, TN to spend his retirement years with family. In his last months, he enjoyed playing guitar with cousin Curtis and cousin Mark’s friendship. Special thanks go out to Ilene McCarter, her son Micah and family for the friendship, support and love they showed to him.
Dan was a man of honor, intellect and had a compassionate heart. He was a humble man who did not boast of his achievements or expect platitudes. He was a brother, father, uncle and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Robyn Gordon Hamer (Revere, Mass), sister LaVee Hamer (Vanceboro, NC) and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Marie Hamer (Durham, NC sister Janet Hamer Stein (Durham, NC, grandson Dakota Wayne Barringer (Winston Salem, NC) and many cousins.
He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM, May 2, 2022 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, Knoxville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity or organization in Mr. Hamer’s name.
