Clinton C. “Pat†Courtney passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Fairpark Health Care Center. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville. During WWII he proudly served his country, stationed on the island of Tinian, where he was part of the ground crew of the Enola Gay. He enjoyed his work at TVA and ORNL. He had fun golfing, (hole in one at Deane Hill), cheering the Vol Football and Basketball teams on and especially the Lady Vols. He also enjoyed playing with his Pomeranians, Peaches and Cream. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Lane Courtney; sister, Margaret; brothers, Bernard, Maurice, Kenneth, Joe, and Ted; wife of sixty four years, Peggy Thompson Courtney. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including Dolly Alexander. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. The interment will follow in Unitia Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Blount County Humane Society 1005 E. Broadway Maryville, TN 37804
