We announce the passing of Clark Andrew Spangler on April 29th, 2023. Clark was our loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all whose lives he touched, Clark was married to his longtime love and friend, Pamela Ruth Spangler for 46 years, who preceded his death in 2021. He missed her dearly after her passing and often spoke of his love for her.
Clark was a dedicated father and grandfather first and foremost. He treasured his children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. He especially loved his role as Papaw and loved to have family around him. He raised his granddaughter Moriah Spangler and rarely did you see one without the other. They had a special relationship and relied deeply on each other.
He also loved and cared dearly about his family. He always took the time to visit, speak and spend time with those he loved. He would spend hours on his porch talking and laughing with family and reminiscing about the past and guiding those on the future.
Clark had many friends in the Maryville area. He was remarkably close to those who graduated with him at Maryville High School. It was important to him to maintain those friendships and attend as many reunions as possible. He loved to play golf with his close friends, share meals with them and speak to them often on the phone.
Our father was well known in the Maryville area. His loving and caring demeanor touched those around him and there was not anywhere he went that people did not know him. He had a beloved customized show truck that he drove in Maryville that people immediately recognized. He was enormously proud of his truck and people would often stop and ask him about it.
He did not slow down even in his later years. Even at the age of seventy-nine he continued to work. His company CP Spangler and Associates, installed decals, labels and wraps for many companies through the decades. His hands were a gift as he intricately applied his work alongside his trusted friend Gene.
Our father was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and firm understanding of what was important. He loved, forgave, and never gave up on anyone.
He is proceeded in death by his father Carl Spangler, mother Ada, stepfather Kenny Filben and sister Faye King. Daughters, Angela Drake, Carol Kurtz, and Kendra Spangler survive him. Son in-laws, Dallas Drake and David Kurtz, Grandchildren Caitlin Kurtz, Brooke Davis, Coby Kurtz, and wife, Amanda, Lauren Davis, Moriah Spangler, Isaiah Spangler, Zoe Spangler and Oliver Spangler. Brothers R.C. Williams, Charles “Charlie” Patton and niece Connie Ledbetter. Sisters Mary Elizabeth Atkins, Frieda Anderson and niece Kim Heflin, and Edna Murley and niece Ginger Adams.
