Clarence Edwin McMahan, 94, of Maryville joined his beloved wife, Katherine in heaven on April 1 2017. They were married in Dalton, Ga. on January 13, 1944, being wed nearly 73 years. He passed peacefully at Ben Atchley Veterans Home in Knoxville. Known as "Mac" to his work colleagues at Alcoa's North Plant, he retired in 1986 after 44 years of service as a Millwright. Clarence was very proud to have served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII as an airplane mechanic in the South Pacific. Mr. McMahan was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. He worked hard his entire life and enjoyed maintaining his home and helping his family with projects and chores. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Sam McMahan and Maude Cogdill of Newport; wife Katherine McMahan; son Steve McMahan; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Jean McMahan; sister Mary Ottinger; sister and brother-in -law Patricia and Jack Ottinger; brother Ivan Blankenship; brother and sister-in-law Geoffry and Rue McMahan; father-in-law C.A. Leonard of Alcoa; brother-in-law Bill Perry of Florida. Survivors include son Michael (Kay) of Maryville, daughter-in-law Rita McMahan of Clinton, granddaughter Kara Potts ( Jimmy) of St. Augustine, Fla; grandson David McMahan (Michelle) of Maryville; sister-in-law Betty Tallent ( Claude ) of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; great grandchildren Lilly and Katie Potts, Tucker and Ansley McMahan; brother-in-law Trent Ottinger of Parrottsville, TN; special friend of the family Jean Presley from Fairview United Methodist Church . A special thanks to neighbors Laverne and Sharon Prince and Dan and Mary Wightman. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gilbert Harris and Rev. Mickey Rainwater officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the entombment service. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
