Christopher Matthew Nitzband, age 23 of Maryville, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, in Dayton, TN. Christopher was a student of Philosophy and Theology and was scheduled to graduate from Bryan College in May with high honors. As much as he was an avid student, Christopher was a great teacher and inspiration. He was preceded in death by his father, Joshua Phipps; great grandparents, Melvin and Marjorie Roettger, Sam and Annie Lambert and Clemmer and Helen Smith. Surviving are his mother, Nikki Nitzband; father, Gary Nitzband; brothers, Nick and Peyton; sisters, Brittany and Kymberlee; grandparents, Dr. Robert W. and Carol Henry, Mike and Lisa Lambert, David and Fay Sisson; beloved great uncle and great aunt, Bob and Hazel Miller of OH, a host of loving and loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many local friends and his Bryan College Family, which includes former and present classmates, teachers and staff. The family will receive friends Friday, February 16, from 6-8:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 17, at 1:00 p.m. at The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Chattanooga with Father David Carter officiating. Family and friends will meet at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, February 18, to proceed to Carpenters Campground Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bryan College Library, 721 Bryan Drive, Dayton, TN 37321-6275.
