Christina Ann Berg Badgett

December 19, 1931 — March 28, 2018

Our Mother, Christina Ann Berg Badgett formerly of Albuquerque, NM passed away in the Arizona afternoon of March 28th, 2018. She was ready to leave every day since our Father Robert, the love of her life, left this life in 1999. As her health deteriorated in the last few years the waiting grew harder each day but now that burden and all others have been lifted from her heart and her soul is with God. Mother was born and raised in the Indiana town of Logansport. She was schooled and confirmed in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church there. She came from a family of Veterans and quite predictably enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Scott AFB in Illinois. There she met and married the love of her life and her husband for the next 46 years, our Dad, Robert. They traveled the world while raising four kids. While Dad served a 29 year military career she was the talent who ran the houses, and there were many of them in Arizona, Kentucky, Libya, Germany, Delaware, Montana, retiring in New Mexico. During that time she occasionally worked outside the home and she was always a star performer there too. She and Dad introduced us to God and to Truth and to Honesty and to Patriotism and to Love. They taught us to cook and sew and clean; to fix things and speak our minds; to sing; to read; to drive; to get along with each other, and most importantly to always make the world a better place than the way we found it. They made magic blossom at Christmas and Easter and Thanksgiving and Halloween - and on budgets so small we still have a hard time realizing that we hadnt grown up rich. But even before Mom joined the greatest team of her life, she was precocious. She was a remarkable community-minded youngster and a highly decorated Girl Scout. She was witty and clever and talented in many different fields. She knew the words to ten thousand tunes and would sing and hum them for hours at a time. She made lifelong friends everywhere she traveled and kept up with them all for most of her days. Wherever we lived ours was a house where others felt welcome, a trait we all inherited. She was a storyteller and the one everyone turned to with questions about our family history. She and Dad taught us life was not always fair, but they both insisted that overall it was sure a good deal. Today as we grieve her loss, we also celebrate her life. In doing so we balance lifes costs with its beauty - and find it is indeed a very good deal. We will gather as family and friends on Friday July 27th at 11:00 am at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee to remember her life, share some laughter, and shed a few tears at her chosen resting place beside her love, Robert Badgett. Their living markers include: son Lon Badgett and wife Maria of Austin Texas, son Bret Badgett and wife Carol of Albuquerque NM, daughter Ann Badgett and wife April of Phoenix AZ, daughter Ameka Mobley and husband Mike of Amarillo, TX, grandchildren Walter, Richard, Jeremy, Samantha, Nathanial, Kyra and Kolton, and great-grandsons Leo and Wesley.
