Charlotte Proffitt Paxton passed away on October 13, 2010, at home. She was a life-long member and ordained Elder of New Providence Presbyterian Church. A former teacher in both the Alcoa and Maryville school systems, she devoted her life to the nurturing of others. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Betty Proffitt and her brothers, Walter and Oscar Proffitt. She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Kenneth L. Paxton, Sr.; daughter, Cynthia (Dale) Freeman of Maryville; sons, Ken (Karen) Paxton of Alcoa and Charles (Julie) Paxton of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Rachel (Robert) Smalley; Sarah (Craig) Woolsey; Dr. Matt Paxton; Julie Paxton; Kyle Paxton; Leah Paxton; four great-grandchildren, Rob and Mary Charlotte Smalley and Emma Grace and Sam Woolsey; sisters-in-law, Bobilee Proffitt and Mary-Royce Watrous; brother-in-law, Bob (Pam) Paxton; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at New Providence Presbyterian Church with Dr. Emily Anderson, Rev. Steve Musick and Rev. Stan Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Providence Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 703 W.
