Charles W. Valentine Jr.

Charles W. (Junie) Valentine, Jr., born December 13, 1917, passed away at the Maryville Health and Rehabilitation Center on December 7, 2008. He was one of twelve children born to the union of Charles W. and Beulah (Warren) Valentine. He was the father of two children, DeFord Valentine and Carol Valentine Banks. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Plant after forty-two years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clayton, Walter, Warren, Eugene, and William and one sister, Elanor. He is survived by his children, DeFord and Carol of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michelle Posey of Atlanta, GA, Analisa Valentine, foster granddaughter, Nicole Arnold of Knoxville and Cassandra (Roger) Warren of Greensboro, NC; his great grandchildren, Justin, Eunique, Trinity, Jaylin, Julian, JaDejsha and Jaleeyah; a brother, Melvin Valentine of Maryville; sisters, Minnie James Branner and Eunice Marshall of Maryville, Katherine Rogers of Atlanta, GA; dear friends, Kathleen Valentine and Aida Davison of Knoxville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet between 1-1:15 p.m. Thursday for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service at the TN Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, with Rev. Willa Estell officiating.
